Copper: A Vital Resource for Modern Civilization

Copper: A Vital Resource for Modern Civilization

Copper is the third most widely used industrial metal on the planet, after iron and aluminum. Its unique properties make it indispensable to global infrastructure, technology, and the energy transition.

Naturally rare in pure form: Native copper makes up less than 1% of total copper sources. Most copper is extracted from low-grade ores containing just 0.5% to 2% metal content, refined from over 160 known copper-bearing minerals.

Silver as a valuable by-product: In Poland, copper ores are particularly rich in silver. During ore processing, silver is recovered as a high-value co-product, generating significant secondary revenue.

A superior conductor: Copper is the second-best electrical conductor after silver but is far more cost-effective. It is essential in electrical wiring, motors, renewable energy systems, and power transmission.

100% recyclable, infinitely: Copper can be recycled endlessly without degrading its quality. Roughly 80% of all copper ever mined is still in use—a testament to its sustainability and durability.
